Plymouth Day Opportunities
Plymouth Day Opportunities provides a day service to disabled adults living in the local area.
What we provide is different for each customer, based on their needs and wishes. Customers can be supported to learn and develop skills in:
- Caring for themselves
- Living independently
- Building and maintaining relationships with friends and family
- Accessing services, resources and activities in the community
We aim to provide you with the support and opportunities you need to lead a fulfilling lifestyle by offering a range of services which are tailored to your needs. You’ll be in control of your support and enabled to make choices and develop your independence. We’ll work alongside you, and the other people in your life, to make this happen. Together, we’ll develop a support plan around the things you want to do, with a focus on what you’d like to achieve.
Our services provide high quality, person centred support to disabled adults. We train our staff thoroughly to provide a high quality tailored and flexible support for people with a range of physical disabilities, learning disabilities and complex health needs.
At Plymouth Day Opportunities, we give disabled adults the opportunity to try a full range of indoor and outdoor leisure and social activities, both individually and as part of a group. This has included:
- arts and crafts
- using computers
- going shopping and meeting friends
- visits to the cinema, swimming, football matches and much more
Through our flexible support you’ll gain new skills, confidence and independence. It’s your choice what you’ll do.
Plymouth Day Opportunities is located within easy access of Plymouth City Centre and its local transport links. We are based a short distance from Plymouth Hoe and Barbican.
We have a modern, accessible building with an open, communal space for our customers and visitors. There is an accredited Changing Place onsite as well as a low-level kitchen.
Other facilities at our service include computer access for customers, a pool table and space for a range of indoor and outdoor activities.
Referrals are accepted from:
- any potential customer seeking support
- a member of the customer’s family (with customer consent)
- someone working alongside the customer offering support (with customer consent. For example, their local authority

We will speak to you and, with your agreement, others that support you such as your family or other care providers. Following agreement about the suitability of placement, we will develop an individual support plan with you which will outline your communication preferences, lifestyle choices and wishes and health and wellbeing needs. We allow every customer to undertake a three-month trial period so you can experience the service. At the end of the trial period we will hold a review and, if applicable, formally agree the support with the customer, their representative and their sponsoring authority.
