Shirley Lodge provides supported living to adults living at our property in Mapperley Park, Nottingham.
Ashurst offers disabled adults the opportunity to live an independent lifestyle and the chance to develop and practice independent living skills. Individual support is also provided.
We aim to provide you with the support and opportunities you need to lead a fulfilling lifestyle by offering a range of services which are tailored to your needs. You’ll be in control of your support and enabled to make choices and develop your independence. We’ll work alongside you, and the other people in your life, to make this happen. Together, we’ll develop a support plan around the things you want to do, with a focus on what you’d like to achieve.
Our services provide high quality, person centred support to adults in the community and at home. We train our staff thoroughly to provide a high quality, tailored and flexible support for people with a range of physical disabilities, learning disabilities and complex health needs.
What we provide is different for each customer, based on their needs and wishes. We support our customers to live independently and customers have the freedom to organise and arrange their own schedules. We can support customers to learn and develop skills. For example:
- planning holidays and arranging day trips
- setting and achieving their goals
- regularly accessing the community, such as the cinema, bowling and art classes
- meeting health needs and attending appointments
Customers are encouraged to be involved in making decisions about how the service is run. If the customer wishes, friends and family are encouraged to be involved.
Shirley Lodge is a three-bedroom property in Mapperley Park, Nottingham. Each customer has their own bedroom which is fully accessible and is equipped with a ceiling hoist. There are two bathrooms in the property with an accessible bath and shower. Shirley Lodge also has a large communal lounge area and dining room.
Referrals are accepted from:
- any potential customer seeking support
- a member of the customer’s family (with customer consent)
- someone working alongside the customer offering support (with customer consent. For example, their local authority

We will speak to you and, with your agreement, others that support you such as your family or other care providers. Following agreement about the suitability of placement, we will develop an individual support plan with you which will outline your communication preferences, lifestyle choices and wishes and health and wellbeing needs. We allow every customer to undertake a three-month trial period so you can experience the service. At the end of the trial period we will hold a review and, if applicable, formally agree the support with the customer, their representative and their sponsoring authority.
